Beloved Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

In a recent letter, the bishop reflected on the experiences of the apostles and disciples following the Resurrection of Jesus. He cited Revelation Scripture 21:5, “Behold, I make all things new,” as an illustration of their transformed hearts through the resurrected Christ. Despite facing persecution, they continued to seek understanding and strength from the Holy Spirit.

The bishop emphasized that although contemporary experiences of faith may differ, believers are united in their evolving understanding and transformation into the likeness of Jesus. The enduring commandment to love God and neighbor, which dates back to Moses' time (Lev 19), was highlighted as central to this transformation.

The bishop acknowledged mothers and women who have imparted faith, drawing parallels with biblical figures such as Sarah, Esther, Miriam, Hannah, Mary of Magdala, Mary, Martha, and others. Their love is seen as a reflection of God's divine love perfected through daily life.

He celebrated those receiving sacraments this month: First Communion for young children and Confirmation for many young people. Transitional Deacon William Burns shared his personal experience with Confirmation: “For me Confirmation was profound. When I was confirmed...I wanted to be more involved in the Church.”

Graduates were also recognized during May with prayers for their continued journey in education at various levels. The bishop expressed hope that they embody love reflective of God's own.

On May 24th, transitional deacons William Burns and John Triolo will receive Holy Orders to serve as priests within the Diocese of Orlando. This sacrament continues Christ's apostolic mission through His ministers until the end of time (CCC 1545). The bishop asked for blessings upon them as they enter priesthood service.
