Deacons John Triolo and William Burns are set to be ordained as priests at St. James Cathedral in Orlando on May 24, 2025. Both men have shared their unique journeys towards priesthood, inviting others to join in their celebration.

John Triolo, originally from Long Island, New York, moved to Orlando with his family in 2006. It was during a Mass dedication at Corpus Christi Parish that he first considered the priesthood after a priest asked him if he had thought about becoming one. Reflecting on his childhood memories of pretending to celebrate Mass, Triolo realized an enduring attraction to the priesthood.

Triolo credits his time serving as an altar server under Father Gregory Parkes for deepening his connection with the Eucharist. This led him to ponder deeply about his future and eventually decide to enter seminary. His experiences there, including a summer assignment in Guatemala, solidified his desire "to bring hope in a world that feels hopeless right now." As he approaches ordination, Triolo feels a sense of peace and joy, affirming that Jesus is his living hope and Savior.

William Burns' journey began when he moved from Massachusetts to Florida as a child. He found community at St. Lawrence Parish and became involved in various church activities after Confirmation sparked his interest. Despite initial uncertainty about pursuing the priesthood due to having been married and having a daughter, encouragement from clergy and religious figures prompted him to reconsider.

Burns' path included earning degrees in religious studies and theology before returning home to work within the church community. After an annulment of his marriage and ensuring his daughter's well-being through college, he entered Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary for later vocations. His daughter supported him throughout this process.

Reflecting on formation and future responsibilities as a priest, Burns acknowledges the ongoing commitment required each day: "It's not a gift just for 20-years-old. Jesus calls people at different ages." He looks forward with excitement towards serving parish communities on a sacramental level.

Both Deacons will be ordained together at St. James Cathedral on May 24th—a significant milestone marking their transition into full-fledged ministry roles within their faith communities.
