Rev. Dennis Marion Schnurr Bishop | Archdiocese of Cincinnati website
The Archdiocese of Cincinnati is set to ordain two new priests on Saturday, May 17, 2025. The ordination will take place at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Chains in Cincinnati. Archbishop Robert G. Casey will lead the Mass and perform the rite by laying hands on the candidates, following a tradition that dates back to Christ and his apostles.
The event marks a continuation of a trend over the past decade, with 52 men having been ordained for the Archdiocese since 2015. The new priests have spent the last year serving as transitional deacons, participating in various ministries such as baptisms and marriages, and preaching at Mass.
Both candidates recently graduated from Mount St. Mary’s Seminary and School of Theology after more than seven years of preparation for priesthood. Their future parish assignments will be announced during the ordination ceremony.
The individuals being ordained are Deacon Kevin LeMelle and Deacon Adam Lewis.
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cincinnati ranks as the 45th largest diocese in the United States, with nearly 440,000 Catholics. It also boasts one of the largest Catholic school systems by enrollment, educating over 40,000 students across its territory which spans 19 counties.
Jennifer Schack serves as Director of Media Relations for the Archdiocese.
