Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez | Archdiocese of Philedelphia
Bishops Daniel E. Thomas and Robert E. Barron have expressed approval for the recent developments in the U.S. House of Representatives concerning budget allocations. They emphasized that "Americans should not be forced to subsidize abortions and ‘gender transition’ services with their tax dollars." The remarks came as a response to last week's committee markups of the budget reconciliation bill.
The bishops, representing the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), also called on Congress to prioritize authentic health care aimed at supporting vulnerable women and children.
The bill is expected to be voted on by the House soon.
