Diocese announces priest assignments effective July 2025

The Diocese has announced a series of priest assignments and retirements, effective July 1, 2025, unless stated otherwise. Reverend Michael Nolan will retire from his role as Chaplain at McConnell Air Force Base but will continue serving the diocesan tribunal and support the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. Similarly, Reverend Kenneth Schuckman will retire from his position as Chaplain at Ascension Via Christi.

In curial appointments, Reverend John Jirak will become Vicar General/Moderator of the Curia while remaining on the Bishop’s Leadership Team. Reverend C Jarrod Lies is appointed Vicar for Evangelization, Stewardship, and Discipleship. Reverend David Lies will serve as Vicar for Priests and remain on the Bishop’s Leadership Team. Meanwhile, Reverend Patrick York will continue as Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Colwich.

Several pastors are also receiving new assignments. Reverend Andrew Dellasega is set to lead Holy Name Parish in Coffeyville after serving as Parochial Vicar at St. Thomas Aquinas in Wichita. Reverend Joseph Gile becomes Pastor of St. Mary in Aleppo while maintaining his role as spiritual director for the St. Joseph House of Formation. Returning from studies at the Catholic University of America, Reverend Daniel Lorimer is appointed Pastor at St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Wichita.

Reverend David Marstall transitions to Church of the Magdalen in Wichita from St. Anne's parish in Wichita. Members of the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales of India also receive new appointments: Reverend Bhaskar Mendam takes over St. Joan of Arc Parish in Harper County and Reverend Babu Pinninti assumes pastoral duties across multiple parishes including St. Paul in Lyons.

Reverend James Schibi moves to lead St. Francis of Assisi Church in Wichita while Reverend H Setter remains with St. Mary Church in Garden Plain after leaving his post at Aleppo's church by the same name.

Reverend Todd Shepherd steps into a pastoral role at St. Anne Parish following his tenure as Parochial Vicar at Cathedral.

For parochial vicars, Reverends Kevin Lix and Andrew Meng are given new roles within different churches across Wichita and Hutchinson respectively, with William P. Stuever joining them at St Thomas Aquinas Parish.

Special assignments include Father Darrin May becoming Chaplain for Sisters' Convent and Wesley Hospital; Benjamin Shockey taking up duties with McConnell Air Force Base; Daniel Spexarth moving to Catholic Care Center; Stephen Heina joining Ascension Via Christi Hospital System; Michael G Brungardt becoming Associate Director for House Formation.

Additionally noted is Anthony Keiser who transitions from directing Faith Formation Office towards managing Spiritual Life Center alongside Fr Emil J Kapaun Family Youth Camp operations beginning this summer season ahead."
