Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre is scheduled to lead a special liturgy for four seminarians at the Cathedral of the Assumption on August 3. The event will include the Rite of Admission to Candidacy for Holy Orders, which marks a formal step in preparing for priesthood.

The four seminarian-candidates are Harrison Frey, Tung Ho, Thanh Phan, and Amos Stinson. According to an announcement from the Archdiocese of Louisville’s Vocation Office, “The rite allows the men to ‘publicly declare their intention to serve the church and commit to their spiritual journey towards ordination.’ It is a moment of recognition by the church of the candidates’ call to ministry.”

In past years, this rite has typically been held at each man’s seminary. This year, it will take place within the archdiocese so that local church members can participate. The Vocation Office stated that bringing the rite home gives parishioners a chance to “witness and affirm the intentions of the seminarians” as they approach ordination.

The liturgy will begin at 5:30 p.m., and all are invited to attend at 433 S. Fifth St.
