The earlier policy had faced criticism for allegedly violating federal and state pro-life laws. According to videos obtained from the Department of Veterans Affairs, staff were trained to promote abortion as an option for veterans.

This development follows other actions by the Trump administration related to abortion policies, including the passage of legislation aimed at ending taxpayer funding for large abortion providers.
