Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R., Archbishop of Newark, has only two official social media accounts: @CardinalJWTobin on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram. These accounts are monitored daily by the Archdiocese of Newark.

The Archdiocese warns that any other social media profiles—whether on Facebook, WhatsApp, TikTok, Snapchat, Reddit, or using different handles on X and Instagram—are not authorized and represent fraudulent use of Cardinal Tobin’s name and identity.

“If you encounter any such accounts or are contacted by them, please take the following steps:

Report the activity to the Communications Office of the Archdiocese of Newark.

Report the account to the relevant social media platform using its in-app reporting tools.

If you are directly contacted or solicited by such an account, please also notify your local law enforcement.

We appreciate your support in safeguarding the integrity of Cardinal Tobin’s official social media presence and in preventing the misuse of his identity. Thank you.”

The Archdiocese urges anyone who comes across unauthorized accounts or receives messages from them to report these incidents both to their office and through each platform's reporting features. In cases where individuals are directly contacted or solicited by impersonators, notification to local law enforcement is recommended.
