Diocese announces new clergy assignments effective July 2025

The Diocese of Columbus has announced a series of clergy assignments, effective this summer. These changes involve both newly ordained priests and those already serving within the diocese.

Reverend Kevin Girardi will begin his role as Parochial Vicar at St. Paul the Apostle Parish in Westerville on July 8, 2025. Reverend Joseph Rolwing is also newly ordained and will serve as Parochial Vicar at St. Peter St. Joan of Arc Parish in Columbus/Powell starting on the same date. Reverend Sam Severance, another newly ordained priest, is appointed as Parochial Vicar at St. Brendan the Navigator Parish in Hilliard.

Reverend Tyler Carter will transition from his current position as Parochial Vicar at St. Matthew the Apostle Parish in Gahanna to serve at St. Brigid of Kildare Parish in Dublin while continuing his administrative duties at Holy Resurrection Melkite Catholic Parish in Columbus.

Other appointments include Reverend Tomás Carvajal Basto who has been incardinated into the Diocese of Columbus since February 18, 2025, and will take up the position of Parochial Vicar at St. Peter St. Joan of Arc Parish in Columbus/Powell.

In confirming appointments by Theatine Fathers' Provincial, Reverend Miguel Enrique Alvardo Santos will move to become Parochial Vicar for both St. Joseph Parish in Dover and Holy Trinity Parish in Zoar from his previous role at St. Peter St. Joan of Arc Parish.

Reverend David Arroyo Alonso has been appointed Full-Time Vicar for Hispanic Ministry for the Diocese of Columbus while residing at St. Peter Rectory, with responsibilities commencing on July 8, 2025.

Further reassignments include Reverend James Farnan moving to St. John the Baptist Parish in Danville/Mount Vernon; Reverend William A. Hritsko taking up chaplaincy duties with Catholic Cemeteries beginning July 1; and Reverend PeterClaver Kasasa Kiviiri joining Church of the Resurrection Parish in New Albany.

Additionally, there are confirmations for other clergy members such as Reverend Anish Thomas assuming dual roles involving Newark Catholic High School and Church positions; Reverend Matthew Morris transitioning to Prison Ministry Chaplaincy; and several others taking up various parish roles across different locations.

Effective June 2, 2025, Reverend Anthony Raj Bellamkonda Irudayam is set to become Pastor at Our Lady of Peace Parish in Columbus.

These assignments reflect ongoing adjustments within the diocese's pastoral framework aimed at addressing community needs across various parishes.
