Emily Sasser Director, Strategic Projects | Depaul University
Stephen D’Amore, an alumnus of DePaul College of Law and a longtime supporter, has been elected to the Board of Trustees at DePaul University. His term will begin on July 1. This appointment continues D’Amore’s commitment to supporting the university's mission.
“Steve exemplifies the Vincentian values of service and personalism that are central to DePaul’s mission,” stated DePaul President Robert L. Manuel. “As an alumnus, he brings our Catholic, Vincentian mission to life by opening doors for talented students pursuing careers in law. I look forward to working with him as we prepare our students to lead with integrity and make meaningful contributions to the evolving legal landscape.”
D'Amore serves as chairman of Winston & Strawn LLP, a global law firm with nearly 1,000 attorneys across the United States, Europe, and South America. Under his leadership, the firm focuses on legal excellence and community service initiatives. He also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Gilda’s Club of Chicago.
Since graduating from DePaul's College of Law in 1994, D’Amore has supported efforts to expand educational access at DePaul. Together with his wife Kim D’Amore, he provided the initial funding for the First Generation in Law Scholars Program launched in 2022. The program offers holistic experiences for rising freshmen through juniors enrolled in Chicago-area colleges interested in law.
“It is an honor to serve the DePaul community, and the communities the university serves as well, together with President Manuel and the other Trustees of this great Chicago institution,” said D’Amore regarding his new role.
In 2024, D’Amore addressed graduates at DePaul's College of Law commencement ceremony where he encouraged them to pursue excellence through persistence and optimism inspired by St. Vincent DePaul.
