Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez | Archdiocese of Philedelphia
Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia are celebrating the 51st anniversary of National Catholic Schools Week from January 26 to February 1, 2025. This annual event highlights the faith-based education provided in 102 elementary, 15 secondary, and three special education schools across the region. The theme for this year's observance is "Catholic Schools: United in Faith and Community."
A key event during this week will be hosted by Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez on January 30 at Father Judge High School's new Career Pathways Academy. Hundreds of students from various schools will participate in a service initiative to package approximately 1,500 care bags for individuals served by Catholic Social Services’ Martha’s Choice Marketplace and Community Farm.
Other activities throughout the week include open houses, Mass celebrations, and special events honoring students, faculty, and community members. Notable events include Saint Hilary of Poitiers School hosting an open house after a Mass on January 26 and Bishop Shanahan High School welcoming Bishop Christopher R. Cooke for their opening Mass on January 27.
On January 28, Nativity of Our Lord School will host a breakfast for family members who have served or are serving in the U.S. Armed Forces and first responders. On January 29, Archbishop Pérez will visit Pope John Paul II Regional Catholic Elementary School to celebrate a bilingual Mass.
The celebration will conclude with several events on January 31, including Saint Agnes School opening a time capsule buried in 2015 and Our Lady of Mercy Regional Catholic School holding a Four Diamonds Mini-THON to support childhood cancer research.
