Father Christopher Eckrich and Father Andrew Litt, priests from the Diocese of Lincoln, are set to lead a pilgrimage in February 2026. The journey will take participants to Greece and Türkiye, following the path of St. Paul as described in the New Testament.

The pilgrimage is organized by Journey of Faith Tours and aims to offer participants an immersive experience in the historical locations significant to early Christianity. Father Eckrich highlighted the transformative nature of such a pilgrimage, stating that visiting these sites can irrevocably change one's perspective on the Bible.

“A pilgrimage to the Holy Land is an experience which words cannot adequately describe,” said Father Eckrich. He emphasized that seeing the places mentioned in Sacred Scriptures brings a new understanding of Jesus's life and teachings.

Father Eckrich referred to the Holy Land as "the fifth Gospel" due to its role in revealing Jesus's humanity and history. He noted that while many consider parts of the Middle East as the Holy Land, significant events also occurred in present-day Rome, Greece, and Türkiye. These regions were among the first to receive Christianity's message beyond Jerusalem.

The pilgrimage will culminate at Nicaea (now Iznik), marking 1,700 years since the First Ecumenical Council in 325. This council was pivotal for establishing key Christian doctrines, including affirming Jesus Christ as Truly God through the Nicene Creed recited every Sunday.

“This is a beautiful opportunity to experience the development of the Faith," Father Eckrich remarked about witnessing how Christianity spread after its apostolic beginnings.
