Attorney General Andrew Bailey of Missouri has filed a lawsuit against Planned Parenthood, seeking civil penalties and restitution for women in the state who have used abortion drugs over the past five years. The lawsuit claims that Planned Parenthood violated the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act by allegedly concealing the risks associated with abortion drugs to reduce costs and boost revenue.
According to a press release from Bailey's office, although Planned Parenthood asserts that mifepristone is "safer than Tylenol," studies indicate that between 4.5 and 10 percent of women who take the drug experience serious adverse events. Bailey stated he would not allow what he described as a "death factory" to mislead and put women at risk.
The Charlotte Lozier Institute recently conducted two studies challenging the abortion industry's claims regarding the safety of abortion drugs.
