Individuals seeking spiritual renewal are invited to attend a silent retreat focused on the brown scapular and the veneration of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. This event is scheduled for November 22-24 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House near Waverly.
The retreat will start on Friday, November 22 at 8 p.m. with a rosary and Mass. Participants will explore sacramental traditions associated with the brown scapular, learning about its role as a spiritual symbol and source of protection.
Father Elias Mary Mills, F.I., who has extensive experience promoting devotion to Our Lady, will lead the event. "Of Mary, one can never say enough," Father Elias stated. "Devotion to Mary is absolutely essential and central to becoming an imitator of Christ and bringing His love to the world."
His teachings will cover the history of the scapular, its significance, and promises made by Our Lady for those committed to her protection.
Father Elias began his religious journey before graduating from Kearney State College and joined the Franciscans of the Immaculate in 1993. Ordained in 2000, he has shared Mary's message globally in places like Australia and Italy.
The retreat concludes on Sunday, November 24 with Mass followed by lunch, offering time for reflection on the weekend's teachings.
