Coolidge, Arizona - In a bid to bring life and beauty to the community, Fr. Alexander Tigga, M.S.F.S., has spearheaded the transformation of the St. James the Apostle Parish in Coolidge, Arizona, into a serene oasis through the creation of a prayer garden.

Fr. Alex, known for his gardening expertise cultivated across three continents, shared, "Wherever I go, I plant beautiful gardens." His inspiration for the project stemmed from a desire to infuse vitality into a previously barren landscape. "It was very dry, dead, and lifeless. So, I wanted to help bring some life to the community. There should be some life," he expressed.

Despite initial challenges with the scorching heat, Fr. Alex and parishioners persevered, installing water irrigation, statues, and benches to create a tranquil space for prayer and reflection. The once arid grounds now boast lush flower beds, blooming trees, and vibrant flora, inviting visitors to experience a sense of peace and rejuvenation.

Reflecting on the impact of the garden, Fr. Alex noted, "Whoever comes, they leave happy." The garden has not only uplifted spirits but also inspired community members to cultivate their own green spaces. Fr. Alex shared insights on the seasonal planting schedule, emphasizing the importance of care and attention to sustain the garden's growth.

Beyond the physical benefits of gardening, Fr. Alex highlighted its profound spiritual influence, stating, "You think a lot about God’s creation while gardening, and how we are participating in God’s creation. It allows time for meditative prayer. The spiritual life and gardening go together." Through his dedication to nurturing the garden, Fr. Alex sees himself as a co-creator with God, enriching the world with beauty and joy.

As the prayer garden continues to flourish, Fr. Alexander Tigga, M.S.F.S., remains committed to his mission of spreading happiness through horticultural endeavors. "My gardens bring happiness to people. They leave smiling," he shared, encapsulating the essence of the soul-nurturing sanctuary in Coolidge.

The transformation of St. James the Apostle Parish stands as a testament to the power of nature to inspire, heal, and foster a deeper connection to the divine, enriching the lives of all who encounter its blossoming beauty.
