St. Mary Parish in David City recently concluded a parish mission centered around the theme “Encountering Christ in the Poor and the Eucharist” from March 19-21. The event featured a series of evening activities, including catered meals and prayer sessions, aimed at fostering spiritual growth and reflection within the community.
One of the highlights of the event was the presence of Danny Leger from Hope of the Poor, a renowned songwriter, recording artist, and speaker, who led praise and worship sessions, providing inspiration to the attendees. The evenings also included insightful talks by guest priests, with each sharing personal experiences and reflections on faith.
Reflecting on the success of the mission, Sister Mary Kansier, M.S., expressed her satisfaction with the response from parishioners. She shared a touching anecdote about a woman who found great solace in praying before the exposed Blessed Sacrament alongside fellow parishioners, emphasizing the significance of communal worship and prayer.
The mission featured a diverse range of topics, including Father Carson Kain's devotion to St. Joseph, Father Allan Phan's healing experiences while serving the poor in Mexico City, and Father William Holoubek's guidance on the importance of praying for healing. Additionally, Marian Sisters were on hand to offer personal and private prayer support to those in attendance.
Looking ahead, St. Mary Parish is gearing up for its annual variety show on Saturday, April 13, at Aquinas High School. The event, themed “Fabulous 50’s,” promises an evening of entertainment, with doors opening at 5 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m., and the show at 7 p.m. Advanced dinner tickets are available for purchase until April 7 at the St. Mary Parish office.
The parish mission and upcoming variety show stand as testament to St. Mary Parish's commitment to fostering a vibrant and engaged community, rooted in faith and fellowship.
