Very Rev. Jamin S. David, J.C.L., V.G. | Diocese of Baton Rouge
Organizers of 40 Days for Life in Baton Rouge are seeking additional volunteers to support their cause of protecting unborn life outside of Planned Parenthood. Bridget Soileau, president of Baton Rouge Right to Life, emphasized the importance of the ongoing theme of "Changing Hearts and Minds" in their efforts.
Soileau acknowledged the presence of abortion-minded women in Louisiana and highlighted the goal of making abortion not only illegal but also unthinkable by changing the hearts of those facing difficult circumstances. Despite abortion being illegal in the state, she noted that women still seek out-of-state referrals from Planned Parenthood.
The volunteers at the vigil offer prayers, peaceful witness, and information on alternatives to Planned Parenthood. Soileau stressed the need to raise awareness about Planned Parenthood's involvement in abortion, even if it is not offered in Louisiana. She also highlighted the importance of vigilance in local government and the community to protect pro-life values.
To participate in the vigil, individuals can sign up for prayer hours on the 40 Days for Life Baton Rouge website. For more information, they can contact bcs84@alumni.lsu.edu.
