The Church of St. Sebastian in Providence, Rhode Island shared a note from Rev. Jordan Kelly, updating the church on several events.
Rev. Kelly wrote that the church had received high rates of participation and that the results would be discussed soon.
Financially speaking, Rev. Kelly met with three major stakeholders.
“The Parish Pastoral Council, the Parish Auditors and the Parish Finance Council and Trustees. These meetings provided the opportunity for Kathy and Sue to ‘meet’ everyone and discuss the stewardship of the gifts we have been given,” Rev. Kelly wrote. “There is also the reality of a need for increased income to be able to hold the anticipated deficit at $15,000.”
Rev. Kelly wrote that the sacraments are an important part in the life of the church. Those who have not been able to attend in person may contact Rev. Kelly and he will bring the sacrament to them directly.
Additionally, while this is a challenging time, it is imperative to remember that being civil is so important in our lives.
“We need this reminder in these turbulent days. Screaming and yelling is neither a sign of power or authority: It is a sign of self-loathing and fear. We need to strive with greater fervor to bring words that give life into the conversations and situations in which we find ourselves. Like you, I have stood back in shock at the profound sense of hatred that we so often encounter,” Rev. Kelly wrote.
While people may get angry and refuse to acknowledge the fact that there is darkness in their life, we must do our best to constantly be bringing ourselves closer to the Lord and trying to hear what he is telling us.
“Do not be afraid to wrestle with yourself! Its fruit is worth the struggle,” Rev. Kelly wrote.
