Christ the King Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska shared an update on Sept. 27.
The State of Nebraska has entered into Phase IV and this means that the church is able to maintain their current practices for Mass and school.
“We are not changing our precautionary measures or social distancing setups at this time but, over the next months and with the help and counsel of our Pastoral Council, Ed Steering Board, and the Parish Staff, we will be looking ahead to see when and how we might gradually move forward to greater normalcy," Rev. Cook wrote.
In other news, the parish is happy to announce that John Pflug has been ordained as Acolyte, which will give him the opportunity to serve the Lord by preparing the altar and sacred vessels for the Liturgy of the Eucharist, as well as assisting the priest celebrant and deacon.
“We are very proud of John so please congratulate him when you see him,” Rev. Cook wrote.
Next, Rev. Cook wrote that we should remember the Feast of the Archangels, Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, on Sept. 29, who serve the Lord and intervene in spiritual matters. On Oct. 2, there will be the honoring of the Guardian Angels.
“These are the spirits from the choir of angels that are appointed by God for each person and for groups and nations,” Rev. Cook wrote.
Finally, Rev. Cook explained the White and Blue Masses: White Mass will be held on Friday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. and Blue Mass will be held on Friday, Oct. 23 at 10 a.m.
“By tradition, St. Luke is said to have been a doctor and his bedside manner can be clearly seen in his emphasis on and concern for the lowly,” Rev. Cook wrote. “In these months of coronavirus, these noble individuals have risked and sacrificed much to maintain our healthcare.”
Blue Mass is a way to remember the Archangels who protect us from evil, as well as those men and woman in service protecting us all.
