SBA Pro-Life America has called for the dismissal of U.S. Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Marty Makary, citing concerns over delays in a promised safety study regarding abortion drugs. The organization pointed to peer-reviewed research indicating that three-quarters of emergency room visits within 30 days after using abortion drugs were classified as severe or critical. Additional studies have found that more than one in ten women experience at least one serious adverse event, with complications ranging from hemorrhaging and infection to sepsis and death.
The group also referenced recent incidents, including a case in Ohio where a medical resident was indicted for allegedly obtaining abortion drugs online through fraudulent means and forcing them on his pregnant girlfriend.
Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, issued a statement on the matter.
A national poll indicated that 70% of voters favor reversing the Biden administration's mail-order abortion drug policy and restoring safeguards such as in-person doctor visits.
In October, 51 U.S. senators sent a letter to the FDA and Department of Health and Human Services urging the reinstatement of certain safeguards on abortion drugs. Subsequently, 175 House Republican representatives sent a similar letter requesting information from Secretary Kennedy and Commissioner Makary.
Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America describes itself as a network representing over one million pro-life Americans focused on electing national leaders who support anti-abortion laws, with an emphasis on promoting pro-life women leaders.
