Most Reverend Keith J. Chylinski, Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia, is scheduled to visit Saint Lucy School for Children with Visual Impairments in Northeast Philadelphia to celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving marking the school’s 70th anniversary. The event will take place on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Saint Jerome Church.
Bishop Chylinski has responsibilities that include overseeing Catholic education within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. He will be joined by Reverend Brian A. Izzo, Pastor of Saint Jerome Parish, who will concelebrate the Mass.
The celebration will begin with a gathering of alumni for a presentation before the Mass. During the liturgy, students from Saint Lucy School will participate as readers and presenters of offertory gifts. A graduate from Saint Lucy’s and students from Saint Jerome Parish School are set to serve as altar servers.
After the Mass, students from Saint Lucy’s will perform a concert led by Maria Ceferatti. Bishop Chylinski is also expected to meet with students and tour the school following these activities.
The day after this event coincides with the Feast of Saint Lucy, who is recognized as the patron saint of the school.
Saint Lucy School for Children with Visual Impairments is one of three special education schools operated by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. The institution focuses on educating and supporting children with visual impairments through tailored teaching methods designed to address each student’s academic, social, emotional, and spiritual needs.
