Carol Glatz has been appointed as the new Editor in Chief of Catholic News Service (CNS) in Rome, according to an announcement from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). The appointment was made by USCCB General Secretary, Father Michael J.K. Fuller, and will take effect on January 1, 2026.

This change comes after Cindy Wooden announced her retirement. Wooden has led the CNS Rome office since 2015, initially serving as Bureau Chief and becoming Editor in Chief in 2023. During her career, she covered major events within the Catholic Church across several papacies.

Glatz brings nearly thirty years of experience in Catholic journalism. She began covering Vatican affairs for Vatican Radio in 1998 and joined CNS in 2004.
