Reverend Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D. Bishop | Archdiocese of Louisville
St. Albert the Great Church, located at 1395 Girard Drive, will hold a St. Thérèse of Lisieux Healing Novena beginning September 22. The event will feature daily Mass and a blessing with a relic of St. Thérèse at 5 p.m.
The novena is scheduled to end on October 1 with a Mass of Thanksgiving, which coincides with the feast day of St. Thérèse.
Each evening during the Mass, prayers will focus on different intentions such as healing from chronic and terminal illness, war, addiction, mental illness, abortion, abuse, and the loss of loved ones.
A eucharistic procession is planned for the first day of the novena on September 22. On September 23, those attending can receive the sacrament of the anointing of the sick during Mass.
After each Mass, participants may receive a blessing with St. Thérèse’s relic. The church has invited several priests to lead the Masses and deliver homilies that address each day's specific prayer intention. The public is welcome to attend any or all of these services.
Confession will be available nightly from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring roses for display in the altar and sanctuary areas and to submit written prayer intentions for placement before the altar.
