Catholic Charities of Louisville has assumed responsibility for the St. Vincent de Paul Outreach Ministries in Nelson County, following a transition from the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral. The ministries, which began operations in 1992, provide services to individuals in need throughout the county.
In recent years, St. Vincent de Paul Outreach Ministries expanded its offerings, including the addition of a mobile pantry in 2021. This growth placed increasing demands on parish resources and prompted Father Randy Hubbard, pastor at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral, to seek assistance from Catholic Charities.
“We are blessed to have an experienced partner like Catholic Charities of Louisville to support our growth as we continue to live our mission in the community,” said Father Hubbard.
Lisa DeJaco Crutcher, chief executive officer of Catholic Charities, expressed her organization’s commitment to serving Nelson County.
“As the social service arm of the entire Archdiocese of Louisville, we are excited for this opportunity to support the needs of Nelson County,” DeJaco Crutcher said. “The synergies between our programs will help us each continue to learn, grow and serve our clients in even better ways.”
The outreach ministries will continue operating in Bardstown and will be overseen by Melanie Reid, who was recently appointed as program director.
