Eighty-eight pro-life organizations, led by Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, have urged Congress to oppose taxpayer funding of abortion through the Affordable Care Act (ACA), commonly known as Obamacare. The groups sent a letter to both the House of Representatives and the Senate as lawmakers consider extending federal subsidies for ACA plans.

Pro-life members of Congress have historically resisted funding for Obamacare unless it includes Hyde Amendment protections, which prohibit federal funding for most abortions. The letter from the coalition reiterates this position and encourages legislators not to change their stance.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser stated: “The American people clearly don’t want to be in the business of subsidizing the violence of abortion. Sixty percent of voters, including Democrats, pro-choice voters, and the majority of independents, oppose taxpayer funding of abortion.”
