A Mass focused on spiritual support for families separated by various circumstances is scheduled for August 30 at St. Peter the Apostle Church, located at 5431 Johnsontown Road. The service will begin at 10 a.m.

Father Silvio J. Fonseca Martinez will preside over the Mass and deliver the homily. Father Fonseca Martinez, originally from Nicaragua, currently serves as associate pastor at Holy Spirit Church in Jamestown, as well as Good Shepherd and Holy Redeemer churches in Greensburg.

The Archdiocese described the event as “an opportunity for prayer, accompaniment and solidarity among the body of Christ for families experiencing the daily agony of separation, whether it be through incarceration, estrangement or any other factor.”

Following the Mass, attendees are invited to a talk in the Parish Hall where Father Fonseca Martinez will discuss his experiences with religious persecution.

The event is organized by the Office of Family and Life Ministries and the Office of Hispanic Ministry. It is open to all interested community members.
