Jim Carroll, Executive Director of Spirit Catholic Radio | face
After over two decades of leadership, Jim Carroll, executive director of the Spirit Catholic Radio Network (SCRN), is transitioning to a new role to further develop and grow a foundation supporting Spirit Catholic Radio. Carroll will become president of the VSS Catholic Communications Foundation, focusing on expanding the network's presence beyond Nebraska and developing new programming.
Carroll has led SCRN for 23 years, during which it expanded from one station to 20 across Nebraska and neighboring states. Under his leadership, the network grew significantly in reach and programming quality. Recently, SCRN extended its coverage into underserved areas, launched new local shows, and upgraded its technical infrastructure. Its mission remains to evangelize and educate through Catholic programming.
Reflecting on his tenure with SCRN, Carroll said it "has been one of the greatest blessings of my life." He added that he has "witnessed firsthand how Catholic radio can change lives — often in quiet, powerful ways."
As Carroll moves into his new role with VSS Catholic Communications Foundation, Eric Svoboda has been named as the next executive director of SCRN effective July 17. Svoboda joined the network in 2023 after more than 25 years in business operations and supply chain leadership. Inspired by Spirit Catholic Radio since 2016, he transitioned from corporate work to faith-based endeavors.
Svoboda remarked that "Spirit Catholic Radio is more than just a radio station; it’s a ministry of truth, encouragement, and hope." For additional information about SCRN, visit www.spiritcatholicradio.com.
SCRN is a registered non-profit affiliate of EWTN Radio network broadcasting both local and national programs on topics such as faith and relationships. Its signals reach over 2.1 million people across several states including Nebraska and Iowa.
