The Diocesan Education Office has announced the winners of the Diocesan Education Awards for 2025. The awards, which recognize outstanding educators in Catholic schools, will be presented at the Bishop’s Saints & Scholars Dinner on October 12 in Lincoln.
Since its inception in 2022, this tradition honors school personnel including priests and religious members from Diocese of Lincoln schools. Nominations are accepted from parents, teachers, administrators, and students. A committee comprising clergy, religious figures, and lay professionals selects the awardees.
The St. Thomas Aquinas Award for Administrator of the Year goes to Ashley Rockey from St. Michael School in Lincoln. Her nomination described her as “a true example of servant leadership in Catholic education,” emphasizing her dedication to forming young disciples.
Rachel Wisnieski from Aquinas Elementary in David City receives the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Award for Elementary Educator of the Year. Her nomination highlighted her as “a treasured part of our school community” who is committed to student growth in faith, academics, and social skills.
Kris Lien of Lourdes Central Catholic in Nebraska City is awarded the St. John Cantius Award for Secondary Educator of the Year. His nomination praised him as “a fantastic science teacher” and a role model likened to Saint Joseph by his colleagues.
Anena Rolofson from Villa Marie in Waverly wins the St. Catherine of Alexandria Award for serving students with special needs or those in underserved communities. She was recognized for advocating for student resources and partnering with Pius X High School to enhance educational opportunities.
The St. John Bosco Award for Support Staff Member of the Year is given to Danielle Wagoner from Hastings Catholic Schools. Her nomination noted her contributions to marketing ideas and outreach efforts aligned with the school's mission.
Father Mark Cyza of the Diocesan Education Office remarked that each recipient “exemplifies the spirit of service, faith, and excellence that defines our Catholic schools.”
