Ahead of the upcoming markup of the budget reconciliation bill in the House Energy & Commerce Committee, Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of SBA Pro-Life America, issued a statement urging congressional Republicans to stop taxpayer funding for the abortion industry.

Dannenfelser highlighted past efforts by President Trump and congressional Republicans, stating: "President Trump and congressional Republicans included this effort in the 2017 reconciliation bill, and we have a historic opportunity to get the job done in 2025."

She emphasized that this move would continue President Trump's actions to halt taxpayer funding for abortions abroad and reinstate the Hyde Amendment across government spending, following what she described as Joe Biden's disregard for it.

In her statement, Dannenfelser criticized Planned Parenthood for performing nearly 400,000 abortions annually while receiving significant taxpayer funding. She said: “Planned Parenthood performs nearly 400,000 abortions per year while raking in $2 million per day, or nearly $700 million per year in taxpayer funding. During the 2024 election cycle they spent $70 million to try to defeat Donald Trump and Republicans up and down the ticket.”
