Reverend David C. Robisch passes away; funeral services set for May

Reverend David C. Robisch passed away on May 3, 2025, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on July 6, 1937, in Cincinnati, he was baptized at St. Peter and Paul Church in Reading. He pursued preparatory studies at St. Gregory Seminary in Cincinnati and studied theology at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary of the West in Norwood, Ohio. Father Robisch also earned a Master of Education from Xavier University in Cincinnati. His ordination took place on December 22, 1962, at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral by Archbishop Karl J. Alter.

Father Robisch's first assignment began on June 3, 1963, as assistant pro-tem at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral. On August 29 of the same year, he became an assistant at St. Ann Parish in Groesbeck and a full-time teacher at Elder High School in Cincinnati. The following year, he was appointed assistant at St. Aloysius Parish in Elmwood and assistant director of the Newman Center at the University of Cincinnati while continuing his teaching role.

On June 18, 1965, Father Robisch was appointed secretary to Most Reverend Edward A. McCarthy and assistant at St. Therese Little Flower Parish in Mt. Airy; this relieved him of duties at the Newman Center and Elder High School. A year later, he became assistant chancellor of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and notary in the Tribunal while remaining secretary to Bishop McCarthy.

In January 1970, Father Robisch took on the role of spiritual director of St. Gregory Seminary before being appointed pastor of St. Albert the Great Parish in Dayton on August 21, 1980. He later served as pastor of St. Mary Parish in Hyde Park starting July 22, 1991; his tenure there was extended for another six years beginning July 23, 1997.

Father Robisch retired from active ministry on July 1, 2007.

The Reception of the Body will take place on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at St. Columban Church located at Oakland Road in Loveland from 5:00 p.m., followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Thursday, May 8, with Most Reverend Joseph R. Binzer as celebrant and Reverend P. Del Staigers as homilist; it will be held at St. Columban Church starting at 10:30 a.m., followed by a luncheon immediately after.

Burial will occur after the luncheon on May 8 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery located on Montgomery Road in Cincinnati.
