Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez | Archdiocese of Philedelphia
Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez, Archbishop of Philadelphia, will lead the Mass with the Rite of Ordination for Transitional Deacons from Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary. The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia.
Ordination to the Transitional Diaconate is a significant step before becoming a priest. Those ordained serve in parishes for one year while completing their studies and other elements of priestly formation. The ordination will occur during Mass following the Liturgy of the Word.
In addition to seven men from Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, Archbishop Pérez will also ordain Jude Arkesh Ragel and Pasquelge Don Sandun Tharuka from Sri Lanka's Archdiocese of Colombo as Transitional Deacons.
The Catholic Charities Appeal has facilitated live streaming of the Mass on both the Archdiocesan Vimeo Channel and Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary’s Facebook page starting at 10:00 a.m. Daniel Kearns can be contacted for any technical concerns regarding the live stream coverage at 215-888-0305.
