Bishop David M. O’Connell, chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Catholic Education, has expressed his views on a recent Executive Order signed by President Trump. The order is titled “Expanding Educational Freedom and Opportunity for Families.”

In his statement, Bishop O’Connell emphasized the role of parents in their children's education. He stated, “The Catholic Church teaches that parents are the primary educators of their children and have both the right and responsibility to direct their child’s education.”

The announcement comes as part of ongoing discussions about parental choice in education.
