Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly is set to host a "Flame of Love" retreat from March 7 to 9 for the Immaculate Heart of Mary movement. The event will commence on Friday, March 7, at 7 p.m. with the rosary and Mass, concluding on Sunday, March 9, at noon with a communal lunch.
The Flame of Love movement began in Budapest, Hungary, through messages received by Elizabeth Kindelmann from Jesus and the Blessed Mother between 1961 and 1982. These messages emphasize prayer, fasting, and sacrifices for reparation and salvation. Elizabeth's diary highlights devotion to the Flame of Love as a source of powerful graces for families and communities.
The devotion aims to fill one's life with Jesus through grace to diminish Satan's influence on families and communities. Participants are encouraged to ask the Blessed Mother to "spread the effect of grace of thy Flame of Love over all of humanity," fostering a deeper relationship with Christ.
Jill Metz, national director of the Flame of Love, along with Lori Brown, regional director, will lead the retreat. They will guide attendees through essential prayers: the sign of the cross, Unity Prayer, Hail Mary with the Flame of Love petition, and Prayer for Propagation.
Available both in person at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House or virtually, the retreat includes meditations by retreat masters and participation in sacraments like Eucharist and Reconciliation. It offers time for silence and adoration aimed at deepening spiritual life and growing devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Registration can be completed online at https://goodcounselretreat.org/ or by calling 402-786-2705.
