Exodus 90 is set to commence on January 20, inviting men to embark on a spiritual journey ahead of Easter. The program emphasizes three key aspects: prayer, asceticism, and fraternity. Participants engage in daily prayer, self-denial, and building connections with fellow men of faith.
The program encourages men to dedicate time for daily silent prayer. This practice is intended to foster spiritual growth by battling distractions and anxieties. "Prayer is learning to recognize and deepen our minute-by-minute dependence upon God," the organizers state.
A significant component of Exodus 90 is fraternity. Participants meet weekly and check in daily with an anchor. "We will all fail at E90, just as we fall in the journey of life," they acknowledge, highlighting the importance of mutual support.
Discipline is another focus area, encouraging participants to forego certain pleasures such as alcohol and social media. This self-discipline aims to prepare individuals for life's challenges while fostering true freedom through Christ. "True freedom – freedom in Christ – sets us free in such a way that there’s a deep peace," the organizers explain.
A kickoff event will be held on January 19 at Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., featuring testimonials, opportunities for forming fraternities, confession, adoration, and a fellowship supper. The event welcomes men of all ages without requiring pre-registration.
