The Office of Catholic Education of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia has announced a $70,000 grant from the Connelly Foundation to support two high schools: Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls and Saint Hubert Catholic High School for Girls. The funding will be used to establish learning support programs at both institutions.
Ms. Korin Robinson has been appointed as the Learning Support Specialist for this initiative, starting her role on November 4, 2024. Her responsibilities include reviewing data from the admissions process to create strategies that address students' educational needs.
Leadership from both schools expressed their gratitude towards the Connelly Foundation for its commitment to Catholic education and its investment in these young women's futures.
Ms. Kathleen Radebaugh, Principal of Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls, stated, “Little Flower is committed to the advancement and preparation of all students. This new program will allow us to meet students in new ways that address their learning styles and abilities." She added that teachers would collaborate with Ms. Robinson to improve student outcomes and experiences across all grade levels.
Doctor Gina MacKenzie, Principal of Saint Hubert Catholic High School for Girls, commented, “We look forward to interviewing the families about the needs their daughter has in their learning process.” She noted an increase in applications from families interested in participating in this program at Saint Hubert.
The initial cohort is expected to include up to 25 students from each school. The application process began on December 9. For more information on applying to these programs, interested parties are encouraged to contact Ms. Kia Benjamin or reach out via provided email addresses.
The Connelly Foundation aims to enhance life quality within the Philadelphia region by supporting education and other areas aligned with its mission.
Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls focuses on college and career preparation through diverse opportunities like dual enrollment classes at Holy Family University. Meanwhile, Saint Hubert Catholic High School offers a STEAM curriculum with partnerships enabling college-level classes.
