Cardinal Blase J. Cupich has announced the appointment of Rev. Jeremiah Boland as interim vicar for Vicariate I in the Archdiocese of Chicago, effective December 23, 2024. Rev. Boland will replace Archbishop-designate Jeffrey Grob, who is set to become the Archbishop of Milwaukee on January 14, 2025.

Rev. Boland has been serving as pastor at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish (OLPH) in Glenview since 2014 and will continue his pastoral duties there while assuming his new responsibilities. His experience includes roles at various parishes including St. James Parish in Arlington Heights and Mary, Seat of Wisdom Parish in Park Ridge.

In addition to his pastoral work, Rev. Boland has played a significant role in administrative leadership within the archdiocese. He served as the Archbishop’s Delegate for International Priests and as executive secretary of the diocesan priests’ placement system.

Born and raised on Chicago’s South Side in St. Gall Parish, Rev. Boland is from an Irish-Catholic family with strong ties to the community, including his brother Msgr. Michael Boland who is affiliated with Catholic Charities USA.
