American Principles Project (APP) has released a new poll conducted by Cygnal, which examines the impact of campaign ads on transgender-related issues during the 2024 election. The national survey of 1,500 voters was carried out from November 11 to 13.
The poll revealed that more than half of the respondents recalled seeing or hearing advertisements concerning Kamala Harris's and the Democrats' positions on transgender matters. These voters reportedly leaned towards Donald Trump by a significant margin.
The data indicates that various messages related to these issues were effective in swaying voters toward Trump:
- 52% of those informed about Harris's support for sex changes for minors were more inclined to vote for Trump.
- 50% of those aware of Harris's support for taxpayer-funded sex changes for prisoners favored Trump.
- 47% who learned about Harris's stance on allowing men to compete in women's sports leaned towards Trump.
- 45% exposed to the message "Kamala is for they/them, Trump is for you" showed increased support for Trump.
Additionally, there is continued voter support for laws prohibiting biological men from competing in women's sports (54-26) and banning sex changes for minors (48-34).
Terry Schilling, President of APP, commented on the findings: “The evidence is now incontrovertible: the culture war is a winner for Republicans."
He added that after years of attempting to neutralize cultural issues by avoiding them, "the GOP under Trump finally went on offense and attacked Democrats on their radicalism, particularly on transgender issues." Schilling emphasized that Republican ads significantly influenced voters, aiding Trump's return to the White House and granting the GOP full control of Congress.
Schilling further stated: “There should be no question now that Democrats’ gender insanity is a massive political vulnerability for them that Republicans should continue to exploit. As the GOP prepares to take power in Washington next year, we urge them not to forget the main lesson from the election and to keep the pressure on Democrats for as long as they continue to defend their extreme agenda.”
