All are invited to attend a "Catholic Ecumenism Workshop" on Saturday, December 7, at St. Michael Church located at 9101 S. 78th St., Lincoln. The event is scheduled from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and will be hosted by "More Mercy," a lay initiative in the Diocese of Lincoln.

The workshop aims to explore the vision for the Gospel by addressing questions such as “Why is the movement toward unity among Christians central to the Gospel message?” It will also delve into Catholic principles of ecumenism with queries like “What does the Catholic Church teach regarding the efforts to restore unity among all Christians?” Additionally, organizers plan to offer practical steps for Catholics with questions such as “How do we pursue Truth together in a way that is not combative? How can we deepen the real – though imperfect – communion that exists?”

The event is free and designed for Catholics interested in healing divisions within the Body of Christ. Food will be provided for participants.

More Mercy is a lay initiative founded by Max Chapman, who previously served as a missionary with the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) at UNL for seven years at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The initiative's goal is to “Restore Christian unity through Truth and Love,” and it has received full support from Bishop James Conley.

Bishop Conley highlighted Jesus' High Priestly Prayer from John 17:21, saying, "Unity amongst the followers of Christ was deep in our Lord’s heart the night before he gave his life for us," and emphasized that "we as Christians are called to work with the same fervor towards unity."
