As teachers from the Catholic Diocese of Lincoln convened for the annual Teachers' Institute on October 14, educators from Sacred Heart School in Falls City marked the occasion uniquely. The event was notable for three teachers who celebrated with their daughters, all embarking on their first year of teaching in diocesan schools.
Mackensie Nelson, a 2020 graduate and first-year teacher at Sacred Heart in Falls City, joined her mother Betsy Nelson, who has been teaching at Sacred Heart for 22 years. Similarly, Emily Wertenberger, also a 2020 graduate and a first-year teacher at Lourdes Central in Nebraska City, was accompanied by her mother Christina Wertenberger, who has dedicated 16 years to teaching at Sacred Heart. Ahren (Ebel) Klement, a 2019 graduate and new teacher at Aquinas in David City, celebrated alongside her mother Sue Ahrens-Ebel, who has spent 32 years as an educator at Sacred Heart.
The gathering underscored a generational commitment to education within the diocese.
