A silent retreat for both men and women is scheduled from October 25 to 27 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly. The event will be led by Bishop Robert Finn and organized by the Knights of the Holy Eucharist.
The Knights of the Holy Eucharist, a group founded in 1998 by Mother Mary Angelica of EWTN, are Franciscan religious brothers who aim to promote devotion to God in the Most Blessed Sacrament. They work within the Diocese of Lincoln, contributing to various parishes' spiritual enrichment.
Bishop Emeritus Robert Finn, previously serving as bishop of the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph from 2004 to 2015, will guide participants through an exploration of the Eucharist. Currently, he serves as chaplain to the School Sisters of Christ the King in Lincoln. Ordained a priest in 1979, Bishop Finn has experience as a high school teacher and administrator.
“This retreat will be a time to remember the gift of the Eucharist, to grow in love and devotion for this great mystery,” Bishop Finn stated. “As we become more aware of the real presence of Jesus Christ, we join in adoring Him: Jesus, my Lord, my God, my all.”
The retreat starts on Friday with a rosary and Mass at 8 p.m., concluding on Sunday with a final Mass and lunch at noon. Attendees can engage in activities aimed at enhancing their spiritual journey, including meditations led by Bishop Finn and opportunities for sacraments such as Eucharist and Reconciliation.
Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House provides a tranquil environment with its expansive grounds. It offers 50 single rooms with private baths and limited double rooms upon request.
For more information or registration details, interested individuals can contact the retreat house at 402-786-2705 or visit goodcounselretreat.org.
This retreat presents an opportunity for attendees to disconnect from daily life pressures and deepen their relationship with God through prayer and reflection on the Eucharist.
Upcoming retreats include "Healing of Memories" led by Ian Butler from November 1-3; "Our Lady’s Promises and Protection" led by Father Elias Mary Mills from November 22-24; "There’s Always More with God" led by Marian Sisters from December 6-8.
