Iona University’s 51st Annual Trustees Invitational raised a record $460,000 in support of student scholarships for Winged Foot employees and their families. The event was held at the Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y., and featured 188 golfers.
Michael Hegarty, chairman of the Board of Trustees, expressed his gratitude to supporters. He noted that over 200 students have earned their Iona degrees thanks to these scholarships.
Michael Arteaga, a caddie at Winged Foot and scholarship recipient, shared his journey with attendees. Arteaga is a student in the LaPenta School of Business and founder of Iona’s Club Golf team. He said, “Receiving this scholarship meant the world to me and my parents. Iona is an amazing place, and I am grateful for everyone who made it possible for me to have this life-changing experience.”
The event’s presenting sponsors were Anne Marie and James P. Hynes, Armando C. Rodriguez Jr., A&A Elevated Facility Solutions, and the Wheelhouse Foundation.
The Trustees Invitational reinforced the community spirit driving Iona University’s mission of educational excellence, faith, service, and opportunity.
