This year’s Totus Tuus Camp for children with special needs received assistance from five Totus Tuus parish teams. Volunteers Steven Brown and Anthony Jackson worked alongside camper Luke Milligan.

Baylee Holmes, the program coordinator for the Ministry with Persons with Disabilities, highlighted that the camp had two Peer Role Models in addition to the seven participants. The campers, aged 8 to 14, benefited from the presence of these role models who returned to help guide them through the camp's structure and activities.

“The Peer Role Models came back to help campers learn the structure of the camp and how to participate. They are individuals with disabilities themselves and have been to Totus Tuus before and came back to help,” Holmes explained.

The role models assisted with tasks such as distributing items, preparing activities, and cleaning up. Totus Tuus parish teams contributed by helping with craft activities, leading singing sessions, and supporting campers on the playground throughout the week. “I think we had five different Totus Tuus teams and they were all fantastic,” Holmes said.

The teams provided one-on-one or several-on-one support based on the campers' intellectual or developmental needs. Additionally, campers participated in Mass and discussions about it, along with visiting a Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Atrium for hands-on faith-related activities.
