Iona University recently announced the establishment of the Gabelli Center for Teaching & Learning, a new initiative aimed at integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into humanities classrooms. This move is part of the university's broader AI@Iona program, which focuses on exploring and leveraging the potential of AI in education.

The university's approach to AI integration is described as "Artful Intelligence". It is based on the belief that AI can significantly enhance learning experiences in the humanities, traditionally seen as a field far removed from technological innovations like AI.

The importance of this initiative lies not only in what students can learn from AI but also in its implications for educators. As part of the AI@Iona program, teachers are encouraged to understand and utilize AI as a tool for enhancing their teaching methods and enriching student learning experiences.
