The Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Tucson recently announced the distribution of over $555,000 in grants to 58 Catholic entities across Southern Arizona. Rosella Melgoza, principal of Loretto Catholic School in Douglas, highlighted the necessity of updating the school's plumbing with the grant received, stating, "Our students and faculty deserve to have a good bathroom to use."
Fr. Manuel Fragoso, pastor of Immaculate Conception in Yuma and St. Joseph the Worker in Wellton, expressed gratitude for the funding received, acknowledging the Catholic Foundation's support in making necessary improvements to the church facilities.
Additionally, Claudia Chavez from St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and School in Tucson expressed thankfulness for the grants that will enhance security on the campus, ensuring the safety of approximately 700 students involved in educational programs.
Deacon Mike Gutierrez, program director of St. Maximilian Kolbe Prison Ministry, outlined how the grant funding will support men transitioning out of prison, providing essential assistance for their reintegration into society.
