Bishop Carl A. Kemme presided over the Chrism Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Wichita on Tuesday, March 26. The annual Chrism Mass gathered representatives from various Catholic institutions and parishes within the Diocese of Wichita.

During his homily, Bishop Kemme emphasized the significance of the Chrism Mass, stating, “Few Masses in the course of the liturgical year bring such a gathering of God’s people more than this one.” He highlighted the unity among the diverse cultures present and the renewal of priestly commitments during the ceremony.

Addressing the congregation, Bishop Kemme announced the launch of the diocesan capital campaign, "One Family, Fully Alive in Christ!", expressing his belief that it would ignite a spirit of discipleship and stewardship within the community.

Emphasizing the importance of having dedicated and virtuous priests, Bishop Kemme urged for a renewed commitment to serve with humility and holiness. He expressed gratitude for the priests' selfless service and obedience, calling them to live lives of prayer and fraternity.

The bishop also acknowledged and honored jubilant priests celebrating significant milestones in their vocation. He then consecrated the Sacred Chrism, emphasizing its significance in anointing individuals and spaces for God's mission of salvation.

As the Chrism Mass concluded, Bishop Kemme encouraged the congregation to remember their consecration and mission as a people dedicated to the Lord, destined for a heavenly realm of fulfillment in Christ.
