Legendary Nashville drummer Chris McHugh is set to take center stage at Benedictine University on April 4, 2024, headlining two events as part of the university's Journeys in Leadership series.

McHugh, a veteran drummer known for his work with top musical artists, will be leading a late afternoon drum clinic and an evening lecture, both of which will be free and open to the public. The events will be held at Benedictine University located at 5700 College Road, Lisle, IL 60532.

The drum clinic, scheduled from 4 – 5 p.m. at Benedictine’s Goodwin Hall of Business Auditorium, will feature McHugh playing along with tracks of songs he has recorded throughout his illustrious career. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about his techniques for each song and engage in a Q&A session. High school music programs in the Lisle area are being encouraged to attend and participate in this unique opportunity.

Later in the evening, from 7 to 9 p.m., McHugh will take the stage once again at the same venue for his Journeys in Leadership lecture. During this session, he will share stories and valuable lessons gleaned from his 40 years in the music industry. For those unable to attend in person, the presentation will be available via Zoom after registration at this link: https://bit.ly/492D0qu

Phil Hardy, Director of Journeys in Leadership and Professor of Political Science at Benedictine University, expressed his excitement about McHugh's upcoming appearance, stating, "He’s not just played with some of the music industry’s best, he is one of the best, and we can’t wait to hear the stories and lessons he imparts."

The Journeys in Leadership series, supported by the Becker Endowment fund, aims to highlight the value of a liberal education and the diverse professional opportunities accessible to individuals with backgrounds in the liberal arts.

For further details about the events, interested parties can contact Phil Hardy at [email protected] or (630) 829-6292.
