Iona University Grows School of Health Sciences, Launching New Degrees in High Demand

Iona University is expanding its offerings in the field of health sciences with new degree programs set to launch in Fall 2024. The NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences is introducing a Bachelor of Science degree program in Health and Wellness, along with two Master of Science degree programs in nursing: Nursing Healthcare Organizational Leadership and Nursing Education.

"The NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences offers a cutting-edge education in some of today’s most in-demand fields, providing a highly valuable and engaging program for our students," said founding dean Kavita R. Dhanwada, Ph.D.

The programs aim to meet the increasing demand for skilled healthcare professionals, with projections showing a 12 percent job growth in the field from 2021-2031. The school is dedicated to preparing students for the challenges they will face in their careers.

"An Iona education provides students with an opportunity to learn alongside top faculty and leading health care professionals in a modern new environment, preparing graduates to be caring, confident and highly capable leaders," said Sherylyn Watson, Ph.D., MSN, RN, CNE, director of nursing and associate dean.

The NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences, established in July 2021, offers a vision for collaborative healthcare education, workforce development, and community engagement. The school's partnership with NewYork-Presbyterian provides students with access to clinical placements and career opportunities post-graduation.

Iona University, accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, is known for its commitment to academic excellence and values of justice, peace, and service. The school offers a diverse range of undergraduate and graduate programs, including those in the School of Health Sciences, where programs like Nursing, Occupational Therapy, and Communication Sciences and Disorders are fully accredited.

With a campus in Bronxville, N.Y., Iona University's NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences is equipped with the state-of-the-art Kelly Center for Health Sciences, offering students a modern learning environment.
