ORLANDO | Bishop John Noonan recently participated in a gathering with University of Central Florida Catholic Campus Ministry students during their weekly KnightFire event. The evening provided an opportunity for fellowship and the sharing of thoughts and experiences related to their Christian journey.

The event commenced with St. Paul’s Outreach missionary Rebecca Laing emphasizing the importance of establishing a personal relationship with Christ as the foundation for spreading the Good News. Following her, student Jack Livingston discussed the practical aspects of mission work, highlighting the significance of living a faithful Catholic life, being authentic, committed, and confident in one's mission.

During the interaction, Bishop Noonan engaged with the students, answering questions about his life, discernment, and matters of doctrine. He also prompted the students to reflect on how the Church can support baptized individuals in responding to the call of spreading the Gospel and living as a community of love and mercy. Notably, Bishop Noonan expressed his intention to convey the students' responses to Pope Francis as part of the Synod on Synodality.

The students were encouraged to share their insights and reflections with Bishop Noonan following the event. The gathering provided a platform for meaningful dialogue and contemplation on the role of the Church in nurturing a community centered on faith, love, and service.

The event was covered by Glenda Meekins of the Florida Catholic staff on March 06, 2024.
