The Society of St. Vincent de Paul recently expanded its outreach by opening a third thrift store, as reported on March 6, 2024. The new store, situated at the Bittersweet Shopping Center on Preston Highway in Okolona, witnessed a promising start with over a dozen customers browsing through its selection of clothes and home goods within the first 30 minutes of opening.

According to a news release from the society, the Okolona location plays a crucial role in advancing their mission to assist those in need with compassion and dignity. The statement highlighted that "One hundred percent of the net profits from our stores help fund our programs and services for those in need."

Store manager Jessica Brotzge, who resides in the neighborhood, expressed her excitement about the new store, stating, “I was ecstatic when I found out we were opening here. I love this neighborhood. We have a lot of Hispanic people and people from every demographic. I really think this store will thrive here.” Brotzge emphasized the store's alignment with St. Vincent de Paul's mission, aiming to provide quality items to the community.

The thrift store operates on a schedule of Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., remaining closed on Sundays and Mondays. Donations are accepted from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
