St. John the Apostle Parish in Lincoln is gearing up to host a community barn dance on Saturday, March 9, as reported on March 1, 2024. The event, which is exclusively for those aged 21 and over, will take place from 6:30 to 10 p.m. in the Creekside Barn at Roca Berry Farm, located at 16531 S. 38th St., Roca.
The evening will kick off with dance lessons at 6:30 p.m., followed by the dance at 7 p.m. Attendees can look forward to a variety of dance styles including line dancing, swing, polka, two-step, and more, with music spanning from the 1950s to present-day hits. Snacks will be provided, and a cash bar will be available for refreshments.
The inspiration behind the barn dance came from parishioner Kate Haden, who expressed her desire to create an event that appeals to a broad range of age groups. Haden shared her hope that the dance will allow people "to experience something that our culture has lost over the years: people coming together to dance in a fun and totally wholesome way."
Tickets for the barn dance are priced at $10 per person and must be purchased online at stjohnslincoln.com/barndance or by scanning the provided QR code. The event is sponsored by St. John’s Knights of Columbus and Altar Society.
